| Gilliam Thunder Road Raceway Park Dragstrip (Formerly Red River Raceway) Thunder Road Raceway Park is an IHRA sanctioned track. The facility is open to professional racers and the general public who want to race their vehicles in a safe and exciting environment. There is a class for every vehicle, as well as bikes. You must undergo a safety inspection before being allowed to race. The track is built on over 200 acres of land and located 23 miles north of Shreveport on Highway 71, in Gilliam, Louisiana. The facility houses a 1/4 mile long racing surface with approximately 1/2 mile of shut down area. Smooth and level, the concrete and asphalt track will accommodate dragsters capable of speeds exceeding 315 miles per hour. The track was built in 1998. The elevation is 192.5 feet above sea level. Bleacher style seats for 7,500 have been constructed with plans for several more in the future. There is a three story timing tower with several suites. | Port Allen State Capitol Raceway State Capitol Dragway is the 3rd oldest, continuously ran 1/4 mile dragstrip in the United States . The track has been sanctioned both NHRA and IHRA, but currently retains IHRA sanctioning. The last Dukes of Hazzard movie had scenes shot at State Capitol Raceway.
